A Great Reference

collegboard.com is a really helpful website that I turned to for most of my questions about many universities. It provides unbiased and accurate information on practically every college in the U.S.

Things To Consider

When looking at colleges and trying to decide where to apply, there are some things you should keep in mind. First off, you should know some of the basic things you want from a university. For example I knew that I wanted to go to a school that had a well established engineering background. I also knew that I liked warm weather and I wanted to stay in state to save money. These preferences helped me narrow down the schools I wanted to apply to.

Engineering

Cal Poly Pomona is well known for its college of engineering. The college consists of aerospace, chemical, materials, civil, electrical, computer, industrial, manufacturing, and mechanical engineering departments. Cal Poly Pomona is tied for 15th in the nation for top undergraduate programs for engineering amongst all public and private schools. One of the main reasons I became interested in this university is because of their exceptional civil engineering program. When I read that it has the largest undergrad civil engineering program in the nation and is ranked 9th overall in the United States, I knew I wanted to apply to this school.

Bronco Athletics

Cal Poly Pomona may not be in NCAA division 1 athletics, but they are extremely successful in division 2. For example the mens basketball team won the NCAA Division 2 Championship in 2010. Basketball isn't the schools only athletic program. Volleyball, Baseball, Soccer, and Track and Field are all sports that this university succeeds in.

Welcome to the Cal Poly Pomona Blog!

This blog is where you can not only find information on the California State University Pomona, but also receive personal knowledge from an incoming freshman. This blog is designed for students that are beginning to look into college or even someone who is just curious on what college life is like. I will be updating this blog as I begin my life in college, but since I don't move in until september, I will be giving information on the university and describing why I chose this school until then.
